Senior Jameel McKay has been named to the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award watch list, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced today.
McKay, a senior from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is one of 20 watch list members for the award, given to the top center in men’s college basketball. McKay returns for his second season at ISU after averaging 11.0 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.4 blocks last season. He earned Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year honors last season after recording 59 blocks in 25 games. McKay was recently named preseason All-Big 12 honorable mention.
McKay and the Cyclones open the season Nov. 13 against Colorado in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
