I have been on Brannen Greene's case for a while as a player not worthy of wearing the KU uniform. I just think he's awful and wouldn't even get in a game if he played for ISU, but no one on this board appears to agree with me. The only shots he can hit are the ones when all the pressure is off. Then he's an all-American.
After rewatching the tourney title game from last year, I'm more convinced than ever I'm right. There were at least four plays down the stretch of that game where Greene missed shots or made plays that allowed us to stretch the lead.
He missed 2 3-pointers that would have given KU the lead or pulled them closer. Then he got caught watching the play instead of playing and allowed Naz to take it to the hoop uncontested for a layup. Later, he drove the baseline, but had nowhere to go, so he jumped and threw a pass to a teammate that was intercepted for an easy layup at the other end.
The only shot he made in the final minutes of the game was after we had taken a 5-point with less than 20 seconds left. No pressure there because they were going to lose no matter what he did.
I love to see Greene come into the lineup because I just know he's going to make silly plays like that and be a nonfactor on the offensive end until it's too late. It's when KU is leading by a big margin that I hate to see him come in because then there's no pressure on him and he becomes deadly on the offensive end.
Anyway, I enjoyed watching the replay.
