Could it be that the key to success is as easy as increasing the pay and hiring better assistant coaches? In the "Mack Brown" thread Ollie4ISU posted a link to a listing of assistants pay for NCAA teams. ISU is not close to most of these teams, we are 25% less than teams like Iowa.
Is a Head Coach only as good as the assistant coaches behind him? Obviously the HC has the final say on most matters, but he has to rely heavily on coordinators to game plan, and position coaches to improve players. In other words, the HC can't do it all himself. Maybe ISU's problem is not Paul Rhoads, maybe its the fact that he cant afford to hire good people to support him. What would happen if JP opened the checkbook and said "Go find your dream OC and DC?".
CPR has the ability to unite and ignite both his players and the fan base. If he had better assistant coaches and coordinators where would he be able to take this team?
