Got a strange and very late invite to hear Jamie speak in Milwaukee Tuesday night from the Milwaukee ISU Alumni Chapter--text below. Got this on Friday. I'm trying to figure out if this is an ISU event, or if it's some other event that Jamie is speaking at--anyone have any insight?
Two other alums I know here got same invite, and they are very nice donors to ISU, and on a lot of ISU email lists--and they are confused too...that's the only invite they received.
Suffice to say, if this is just geared toward ISU alums, and the seemingly only invite went out only five days ahead, I'm guessing attendance will be very low...it's not like we have a huge, active alumni base here--and the subject isn't necessarily "Iowa State".
Here's the invite:
Jamie Pollard Speaking at University Club:
In 2010, the University of Nebraska split ties with the Big 12 conference and joined the Big Ten, setting off a chain reaction of NCAA conference realignment. The moves resulted in Universities choosing TV revenue over decades of tradition and rivalries. The fate of numerous state and private institutions hung in the balance as remaining in a “Big 5” BCS conference was key for revenue and notoriety. Jamie Pollard was Chair of the Big 12 Athletics Director Committee during the tumultuous time. Mr. Pollard will touch on a number of current NCAA topics, including conference realignment, pay-for-play and the concussion dilemma.
When:
Tuesday, July 21 5:30 p.m. Cocktails, 6:00 p.m. Program
Where:
University Club of Milwaukee
924 E Wells St, Milwaukee, WI 53202
Cost: $25
