(due to a fortunate flight take off delay)
The passengers on a flight 93 heading west from NJ, got word from cell call from home that had noticed the morning news, that something was awry,
that sunny morning...
...then they took notice of something unusual, on their routine flight that had gradually, turned from going west, and began heading easterly... why?
Some passengers connected the dots...
Some passengers quietly whispered (trying not to get attention from a hi-jacker), what to do.... nothing... act... if act, how...?
Radio tower to Flight 93...
" flight 93, do you copy? "
silence
" flight 93, please reply..."
silence
" flight 93, please maintain heading... "
" flight 93, do you copy?"
silence...
Radio tower controller with an eye on radar, to tower supervisor
" i am not getting a reply from flight 93 "
Supervisor
" ...keep trying... " (with an eye on the radar... )
" flight 93, do you copy? "
silence
(in minutes ... not days, weeks, months ...)
They selflessly chose, free choice, to help others - at a high personal risk... (and that choice, helped untold others for years to come...)
not selfishly, just help themselve$....
( got that academic lesson, .... (some in) ames... ? )
...the bell rings, for 40 people that impromptu voted to wait and see, or to act, to try something.. ...
that stopped an even worse tragedy from happening... a consequence for inaction....
that could be 18 minutes in flight time away...
“The heroes of Flight 93 are an everlasting reminder that no matter the danger, no matter the threat, no matter the odds, America will always rise up, stand tall, and fight back.” – – – “The only thing that stood between the enemy and a deadly strike at the heart of American democracy was the courage and resolve of 40 men and women.”
“Our sacred task, our righteous duty, and our solemn pledge, is to carry forward the noble legacy of the brave souls who gave their lives for us 19 years ago.” … “In their memory, we resolve to stand united as one American nation, to defend our freedoms – to uphold our values – to love our neighbors – to cherish our country – to care for our communities – to honor our heroes – and to never forget.
p.s.
flash forward 19 years, today...
instead of appeasing terrorists, and / or fighting the fighters...endlessly... etc.
...a new way forward has begun to jell
and to be embraced by mideast countries ...
and mutual mideast peace agreements / partnerships are beginning to occur...
( the good news is under reported by the media )
....Love thy neighbors... and the golden rule...
