It seems to me that we might have wanted to outbid Toledo for Jason Candle. He must be a missing link for this group. Could we have got him if we had been willing to pay more, or was the lure of the head job strong enough to overcome a more lucrative financial offer? All I can say is that it seems that after two games, we could have used him. It can still work out fine in the long run, but this year appears to be showing a hole that will only be filled over time. I hope our fanbase can be patient enough to let this staff develop themselves and the culture of the program. Timely question for comparison this evening: What was Iowa's record after Ferentz's first season? Anyone using the words "short leash" should look up that answer before judging our current staff.
