When you look at where we started and final outcomes, it's not good. Six years and we've had 3 NCAA wins against teams seeded 12, 12, and 13. A conference record of 40-68.
2015-16
Record: 23-12, 10-8
Finish: Made to Sweet 16
Big 12 Tourney: First Round Big 12 Tourney Loss
NCAA Seed: 4
NCAA Results:

Lost to Virginia (1) in Sweet 16
Key Roster:
· Niang (SR)
· McKay (SR)
· Nader (SR)
· Morris (JR)
· Thomas (JR)
· Burton (JR)
What I remember about the year:
Great to make the Sweet 16, but we only had to beat a 12 and 13 to get there. This team had so much talent and only went 10-8 in conference. Felt pretty good still about future of program.
2016-17
Record: 24-11, 12-6
Finish: 2nd Round NCAA
Big 12 Tourney: Champions
NCAA Seed: 5 Seed
NCAA Results:
Beat Nevada (12)
Loss to Purdue (4)
Key Roster
· Morris (SR)
· Long (SR)
· Thomas (SR)
· Burton (SR)
· Bowie (SR)
· Holden (SR)
· Jackson (JR)
· Babb (SO)
· Young (FR)
What I remember about the year:
Comeback against Purdue was awesome to make it a game, but disappointing that a team loaded with seniors only made it to the second round. Big 12 tourney championship was great. Concerned Prohm isn’t maximizing potential and everybody knew we were about to take a step back. Also concerned that Prohm can’t recruit/develop bigs that can compete against the talent/size the top teams will have. Bowie and Holden aren’t going to get it done.
2017-18
Record: 13-18, 4-14
Finish: No NCAA
Big 12 Tourney: Play-in loss
Key Roster:
· Jackson (SR)
· Beverly (SR)
· Brase (SR)
· Babb (Jr)
· Talley (JR)
· Young (SO)
· Lard (FR)
· Wiggington (FR)
· Lewis (FR)
What I remember about the year: It sucked and we knew it would suck. Wiggington was a talented freshman and the recruiting class for the next year was hyped. Prohm struck-out on the grad transfers. Didn’t feel any better about Prohm, but a pass was already granted for this year before he even started.
2018-19
Record: 23-12, 9-9
Finish: 1st Round NCAA
Big 12 Tourney: Champions
NCAA Seed: 6
NCAA Results:
Loss to Ohio State (11)
Key Roster:
· Babb (SR)
· Shayok (SR)
· Jacobson (JR)
· Wigginton (SO)
· Lard (SO)
· Lewis (SO)
· Horton-Tucker (FR)
· Haliburton (FR)
· Conditt (FR)
What I remember about the year:
The Big 12 championship made a lot of things seem way better than they were. 9-9 in conference sucked ass. A loss to OSU where we couldn’t figure out what the hell to do against their big fat guy. Our most hyped freshman sat on the bench as we were upset in the first round by an 11 seed. Wiggington off the bench didn’t seem to work, but Prohm stuck to it. Wiggs leaves and doesn’t even get drafted. Shayok was clutch and Haliburton was a delight to watch. You knew right away that he was going to be an all-time favorite. He was always smiling. Concerns on Prohm are amplified big time. He can’t manage the talent. Did he just luck out his first two years? Where the hell did the out of bounds plays go? Why do you suck so bad at calling timeouts? Why do we have so many bad plays out of timeouts? Why is Lewis not getting better? What are we good at?
2019-20
Record: 12-20, 5-13
Finish: No NCAA
Big 12 Tourney: Play-in loss
Key Roster:
· Nixon (SR)
· Jacobson (SR)
· Lewis (JR)
· Young (JR)
· Bolton (SO)
· Haliburton (SO)
· Conditt (SO)
· Jackson (FR)
What I remember about the year:
We knew we would struggle coming into the year, but you can’t be happy that we had a rebuilding year two seasons ago and the year in between only got you a 1st round NCAA loss. Did Jacobson get any better? Is Young getting better? Why can’t Lewis get on the court? Losing Haliburton certainly cost us games, but we were bad before he was injured. What is Prohm good at? We aren’t a scrappy team. We don’t rebound or hustle. The offense isn’t creative. Defense isn’t great. Bigs don’t develop. He’s had good luck with point guards, but other than that it is hard to identify a single a thing that is a Prohm strength. You never leave a game thinking Prohm outcoached the other guy. I’m officially off the bandwagon and want him gone.
