A Class of 2018 wide receiver from the state of Texas recently picked up an offer from Iowa State and says he has plans to take an unofficial visit later this year.
Houston Cy-Creek's Miles Battle sold the Cyclones on offering him a scholarship largely based on what he showed during spring practice and summer workouts.
"They were talking with my trainer and had seen some of my film," said Battle. "They asked him about me and he sent some of my videos to them. They were very impressed with what they saw and decided to offer me through my coach. They like how I'm so tall and am able to move like a smaller guy, and have good feet.
"The coaches are very excited about recruiting me and I feel pretty good about the offer. Obviously they were really interested in me, so I have a lot of confidence in them now too."
A four-star prospect that's ranked 46th at his position nationally and top-250 overall nationally, Battle also has offers from Michigan State, Arizona State, Colorado, Houston, Tulane and SMU.
He said all of the early interest is because of what he brings to the table as a 6-foot-4, 178-pound wide receiver.
"I think it's my size and ability to high-point the ball with my catch raise," he said. "We play in an Air Raid offense, so we like to throw the ball a lot. Our quarterback is pretty good and is going to get the ball out there to me."
Battle said he would like to make the trek to Ames sometime this fall, and looks forward to scheduling something soon when coaches can have more contact with recruits.
"I plan to take a visit sometime this year, probably for one of their home games," he said. "I'm looking forward to hearing more from them in September when they can start calling me, and then I'll have their number too."
