Was just looking at 2016 men's bball NCAA sites because all I really knew was that Des Moines was one of 8 first/second round sites for 2016. It's never to early to start counting our chickens before they hatch. Obviously since ISU couldn't play in DSM then I wanted to see what the next closest city ISU would be vying for. I see it's St. Louis. I also see that Midwest region is Chicago for regional rounds and Louisville is South regional. I'm assuming that Kentucky is not the host for that so they could still be placed in that region? Anyone know? It would be great to get placed in Midwest region and have opportunity to advance to Chicago after playing in St. Louis. We will compete with KU for St. Louis likely, but we won't have to compete with some other Midwestern schools like we did this year with Wisconsin. That's because a team like Wisconsin (or Michigan St) could end up in Des Moines, which would be helpful in ISU's chances in landing St. Louis.
I still can't help but think that if ISU ended up in Omaha this year that the crowd would have willed ISU to victory. There's no way ISU is going to lose in front of 5,000+ ISU fans. The fans in KC made sure that didn't happen!
